   ♦ sit with legs wide apart, helei, ki'ihelei, ualehe;

   ♦ sit crosslegged, 'aha'aha; ne'epū;

   ♦ sit on eggs, as a hen, moe;

   ♦ sit flat, as on the floor, pāpāki'i;

   ♦ sit up, as a dog, noho ho'okīki'i.

   ♦ In olden times it was not polite to say noho i lalo, sit down; one was not supposed to stand in presence of chiefs.
